The Netia Project

Dan has always loved working out in Netia – teaching and training the leaders there.  At one point he was teaching a class for all the ministers (35-40+) every other week and on the other weeks he would work with a smaller group of leaders.  This smaller group consists of 14 leaders chosen by the general churches to receive more concentrated instruction.  These leaders are people the churches felt should be tasked and therefore trained and equiped to teach and disciple the existing churches and plant others.

This group of 14 has really taken the task to heart.  They sit under Dan’s instruction each week and then turn around to teach others and train the other ministers.  They’ve planted new churches and are training those within the churches.

But now, logistically, they’ve reached their limit.  These newer churches are far enough out that it’s very difficult to get out there for regular teaching and oversight.  The farthest churches are a three day walk.

Thus this project:

To equip each of these trusted (and proven) men with a flock of chickens, a herd of goats, and a motorcycle.

Equipped with these items the minister and his family can strategically relocate away from the village center to live closer to a group of these newly planted churches.  The chickens and goats can be both a food source for this family and a means of income production as they sell offspring and/or eggs.  Income produced can help to purchase fuel and provide for the maintenance of the motorcycle.  Having a motorcycle for transport will allow these key leaders to travel easier, in less time, so they can meet and teach at these churches with greater regularity, so they can gather with each other for mutual edification and teaching times and ultimately so they can expand the church’s reach beyond where they are today.

We’re very excited!  Not only is this project another step towards helping the church grow and expand through the national leadership of Netia, but this project was proposed by the Netia churches.  It is their initiative and their vision to reach beyond where they can currently go.  Since it wasn’t our idea and our vision imposed on them there is more ownership and excitement on their part.  That will lead to greater success.

This project is what we are promoting this summer to each of the weeks of church camp and VBS which we work.  Money raised by the kids will be used for this project.

The total project cost is $15,000.  During the camps and VBS in June we’ve raised just over $5000!  We look forward to seeing what July’s camps and VBS weeks will bring in.

Please pray for this project and for the offerings to be given by the kids during our weeks of church camp and VBS.  Pray for these leaders.  Pray for the expansion and deepening of faith within the church in Mozambique.

If this project grabs your heart and you’d like to specifically contribute to this project drop us a note and we can talk, but no pressure.  We most seek your prayers.
