Though we’ve told you about the famine going on in Northern Mozambique this year, we thought you might appreciate about hearing it firsthand. We are, by no means, professional videographers, but while Dan was in Mozambique last December he recorded an interview with two of the Netia church leaders.
The plan is to help. We’ve been raising funds to provide one meal of xima (cornmeal or manioca porridge) per day over the course of 4 months. This should help people get through until the new harvest comes in. This relief is for not only the families within the churches but also to extend beyond the church and feed some within the community. We pray that food, provided in the name of Christ, will allow people to see God as Provider. We pray through this physical provision they will then be able to hear of His love, His compassion and the provision of His salvation through Jesus.
Within Netia we’re looking to feed 1700 families (with anywhere from 3-7 people per household) each month. We’re also helping in Chalaua, another area where Dan discipled ministers, and looking to feed 165 families there.
We rejoice at the provision for this project. The total cost of this relief will be approximately $138,400. (That yields 1,565 50 pound sacks of flour x 4 months). So far we’ve received and/or been promised $126,700. That means we are only $11,700 short!! We rejoice in this because we trust the rest will be provided. If you feel moved to help financially feel free to contact us and we can get the details on how to help to you.
In the meantime please join with us in praying that this final amount of money would come in and pray for those suffering from hunger. Pray also the gains this year would be good so the harvest for next year will be good.
